On Feb 14th, 2013 we went in front of the town of Yarmouth Zoning Board of Appeals. What an experience. We presented our proposed plans to remove, rebuild and enlarge our cottage - actually our lawyer did most of the talking. Its was so formal - televised, had to talk with microphones.......
They were five of the most toughest guys I've met in a long time. The first half hour was awful and I thought they were going to reject everything! There were three letters sent in from neighboring cottage owners opposing our plans. However, a guardian angel appeared from the audience and stepped up to the podium and went on and on about how he highly recommend the board approve our petition. I had to hold back my tears. He provided a better case than the lawyer.
A half hour later four of the five guys approved our petition - four is required. We got everything we asked for including a front porch, back deck, heated and year round use!
Thank you dear stranger. You really made our Valentines Day!!!

Zoning Board of Appeals
Date set to go in front of the zoning board of appeals. Site plans are done for the new cottage, now it's time to see if they will approve our request. Hearing date is February 14th. Looks like we'll be packing for the cold weather. I hope it's snowing then - Lucas really wants to have a snowball fight!

Our Piece of Heaven
On July 31, 2012 we bought a very small cottage in Cape Cod. An original 1945 beach cottage in South Sea Village. In August we vacationed in the tiny cottage and spent time meeting our seasonal neighbors.
Accommodations were tight but we made the best of it. Soon after our vacation we would start on our new project. Rebuilding and enlarging Halifax!
